The ROSE Community Library Appeal
The ROSE Community Library is a very popular community library project based at our Qultura Core project at the ROSE Community Centre in Nine Elms, London, and is used by members of the local community in Battersea and Nine Elms. The project is developed to provide both a new important civic amenity working to bring people in the community together and to promote the reading of books. Despite widespread technology there is still a strong demand for reading of books and this demand comes from people of all ages.
We would like to develop this project further and expand on our growing collection of books.
What we need
Below we give a summary of what we need to develop this project further.
- donations of good quality books suitable for adults, teens and children
- one six foot tall book shelving unit
- book display stands (the type sold on e-Bay @ £4-£5)
- a crate to store books
- 2 volunteers to help maintain order in the books on a weekly basis
How you can support this project
If you live within the local Battersea and Nine Elms community you can volunteer via the project page (link below) and we can make arrangements. Charmaine will work with you and give you support and training. For donations of books and items we strongly prefer items to be delivered or dropped off at the ROSE Centre in Nine Elms (link to Qultura Core for the address and details). We welcome donations to help meet expenses and to be able to purchase the book display stands and you may either pledge your support or make a donation using the links below.
