To participate in one of our Human Library events all you need is your humanity, a story and something to say. Leave that mask you wear out in society, otherwise known as your Ego, at home. It's not important and neither are the labels you walk around with, your social position or status, how much money you have, or whether or not you have a job. Keep your money. We're not interested in it. Nor are we interested in your ideological beliefs, whether they are religious or political. Save those for the church, the political party and social media.
What we give you is an open-minded, friendly, non-judgmental social environment, access to a community, a platform, a Community Message Board and a Community Blog. There is no agenda other than what is laid out in the Qultura manifesto. As long as you're mindful and respectful of our Community Standards and prepared to play nicely with others then you can talk about what you want and also talk about the social issues which you personally feel are important. There is nothing that is considered 'off-topic'.
However there are different levels of participation and involvement in our Human Library project so you can get involved in different ways depending on your level of commitment. There are four basic roles and we will go through each one in turn with details on how you can get involved. You can change your level of participation and involvement at any time and all levels are completely free of charge.
A guest participant in our Human Library project can be anyone from the wider local community. You're not a registered Qultura community member so while you're welcome to attend Human Library events you cannot participate online, make use of our Community Message Board, our Community Blog, or access community support. You're also not guaranteed to be assigned a partner at a Human Library event.
A Community Member is a member of the Qultura community. As a member of the Qultura community you can:
To become a member of the Qultura community all you need to do is register on our Community Message Board.
A Community volunteer (or activist) is a member of the Qultura Core community (Qultura Core being the 'core' of the Qultura community) and is someone who:
Our universal volunteering system, which is the basis of the Qultura Core network, is completely self-identifying, self-regulating and self-perpetuating. This means that there is no hierarchy, no recruitment process, and is pretty much autonomous.
You can become a Community volunteer or activist as a registered member of the Qultura community via the Community Message Board or via the Qultura Core website.

A Reverse Participant is a special kind of Qultura community volunteer in that it is someone with direct, first hand experience of social stigma, status loss and social exclusion and is recognized as such within the Qultura Core community.
While a Reverse Participant *may* also be involved in community volunteering or activism, they are not obliged to do any community volunteering as their primary focus is to provide other members of the community and the Human Library project with insight from their experiences of social stigma, social issues and social exclusion.
Additionally a Reverse Participant:
Anyone can become a Reverse Participant either from within the Qultura community on the Community Message Board or via the Qultura Core website.
