Education is a system for training you how to fit in with an artificial economic system. It doesn't teach you how to think, use your mind or develop your powerful capabilities when it comes to memory or imagination.
Many issues in life start with the education system. The constant focus on grades, marks, test results and exam results teaches you that you only have value when you are doing better than most other kids or students. This is what conditions young minds to think that they have to be better than others in order to have value. Out of this we are conditioned to be competitive, self-serving, uncooperative and also out of this is how we get social issues such as bullying, indifference, and being indifferent to those who fail or do poorly.
Human beings have one of the most complex neurological systems in the animal kingdom with unrivalled powers of memory and imagination. Just like digital technology, human physical thinking is digital in nature - evidenced by the success of I-Ching and the eastern philosophy of Taoism in mapping out human thinking on the basis of yin and yang. This is the Shakespearean 'to be or not to be?'. But unlike digital technology, organic human thinking is capable of developing consciousness. We don't understand what consciousness is, we cannot explain it, define it, or understand it, nor will we ever be able to do so, but our brains are complex enough to be able to develop it.
However in order to gain control over your mind, emotions and thinking you need to learn what is known as discipline of faculty. This is because the process of thinking is usually something you cannot control directly unless you have some degree of conscious awareness (or 'mindfulness') and also because your conscious attention is focussed on a single point of interest whereas the universe is coming at you constantly in a multidimensional continuum of sensation and experience. At no point are you ever taught discipline of faculty anywhere in the education system. You're taught about everything which isn't you. You are taught to accept and be obedient to external authority. You are taught to conform and follow rules. You are not taught how to control your mind and emotions. So rather like weeds overgrow something like a railway track above, as you grow up and get older your thinking processes and emotions start to become more and more complex.
If you don't make the effort to learn for yourself discipline of faculty then you can reach a point where your mind can turn against you. This is because as you get older your life becomes more and more complex and thanks to digital technology, the internet and social media we are constantly being bamboozled with information. Let's take for example fear, something which many of us experience at some point in our lives. Fear is what happens when you lose control over your imagination and you start to imagine situations and circumstances in your life which could happen, which have the possibility of happening, but which aren't in reality happening. The only way you have of controlling your emotions and thinking in the face of fear is to develop a higher level of conscious awareness and also to be able to shift the focus of your conscious attention, but this of course requires effort and practice. This is also a process which is made much easier by the development of empathy, as developing empathy with others counters effectively both fear and anxiety.
Understand that education shares a lot of objectives with prison and the military. It's done out of necessity more than anything. Like social conditioning - see the Hypnotist Analogy for more details - most people don't question or challenge what they are taught and just accept what they've been taught as gospel believing that it's what is appropriate for them, their reality and their lives. They then get caught up in their psychological drama and mistakenly believe that this is their reality. Then when life starts to become too complicated or they finally sell themselves out to the corporate system they end up settling for peace and a 'quiet life' without ever learning how to effectively take control of their mind, thinking and emotions. This leaves them wide open to whoever or whatever takes advantage in the socioeconomic system and their lives become effectively controlled by other people.
If you're smart you'll take steps not to let these things happen to you. Your mind should never become a prison where you suffer over something which happened 20 years ago or what might happen next month.
This is unsolicited mental health advice and what you need to be aiming for. The big secret is your mind is not your mind, but forms part of a grid with everyone else. It's the basis of your perception, your cultural awareness and your conscious attention. Trying to declutter what amounts of chaos, not knowing and ignorance is a pointless exercise. You're fighting the universe and information coming in from different sources through what is described as cultural reality. Not only do you not have to pay attention or take seriously everything which goes through your mind, you shouldn't because most of the information which goes through your mind isn't relevant or appropriate to your life, your reality and your individual perspective.
Life is actually much, much simpler than most people make it out to be. You need to be living a life which is both simple and focussed on developing your conscious perspective. This is where being part of a community and developing empathy can help you out. You being you is dependent on other people being who they are. This is what makes empathy is vitally important in life. We all learn things from other people.
