Community spaces

Wherever possible we make use of community spaces to get together and meet up in a real time, face to face kind of way. Prior to the COVID lockdowns the Qultura community was primarily a real time, face to face type of community based in Nine Elms, London. We still make use of community spaces for various meetings, events, our developing Human Library Project and also the Community Forum.

Primary social interaction

Let's start with a useful tip. If you want to join the Qultura community and struggle with technology you can always turn up to any Qultura meeting or event and get assistance to help you register on our Community Message Board and get help on how to access it from your device.

About our community spaces

Currently we work in a kind of unofficial partnership with Wandsworth Council in London who provide us with access to community spaces for community type activities and for some time now we have been making use of space at the R.O.S.E Community Club Rooms. We are in the process of rebuilding the Qultura community and plan to expand on our symbiotic relationships with other local authorities and others for access to community spaces.

Accessing meetings and events organized by Qultura Core and the Qultura community is always completely free of charge to everyone and we post details of meetings when they happen on our home page and relevant webpages on our website.

If you would like to come along and participate all you really need to do is turn up.

Getting to our community spaces

Generally when it comes to attending Qultura meetings and events we recommend walking, cycling, and using public transport. We do not recommend driving as generally this creates issues with parking.

We always ensure that there is accessibility to our meetings for people with disabilities, for example for people with wheelchairs and are happy to make accommodations where necessary. Even if you don't use a wheelchair or have an invisible disability if you need certain accommodations please feel free to let us know before the meeting or event and we will do what we can to make arrangements.

Refreshments and food

Usually we do what we can to provide refreshments and where possible access to food during our meetings and events.

Usually we have access to a kitchen where we can make hot drinks such as tea and coffee so when you come to a meeting or event you're welcome to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee.

Where we have food available it will be laid out or accessible to you. Feel free and help yourself.

Before and after meetings and events

Usually our meetings are arranged in two hour windows or slots.

Usually someone is around before the event and afterwards (to ensure clean up) and if you want to turn up earlier for a chat or to do a meet and greet you'd be welcome.

Between times we tend to go with the flow and make stuff up as we go along and tend not to be too rigid about stuff. What matters most to us is that everyone who attends gets some kind of benefit from attending our meetings and events.

Safe access to meetings and events

We also like to ensure that everyone has safe access to all Qultura events and meetings, especially when our meetings and events take place during evening hours and especially on dark winter evenings.

Therefore if you consider yourself vulnerable or struggle with social anxiety or are not familiar with the community space you can always contact us before the event and meeting and we can come to some arrangement regarding accommodations. Please also keep this in mind when attending meetings and events and offer to walk with someone who might be feeling vulnerable or anxious.
